Project RISHI's financial literacy team is dedicated to empowering rural communities in their financial decisions by creating workshops and curricula that provide the fundamentals of finances and essential concepts to expand monetary knowledge. Our mission is to foster financial independence and promote sustainable economic growth through educational programs and booklets
Financial Literacy
Current Work
Currently, our team has created two curriculums focused on health insurance schemes and the basics of banking targeted towards underprivileged women. In collaboration with the Maanushi Foundation in Kumily, Kerala, our curriculum aims to empower these women by enhancing their financial literacy and understanding of health insurance options.

Past Work

In the past, we have implemented a microlending program for women's self-help groups in Tamil Nadu in collaboration with the non profit READ. In cooperation with READ, we created a micro-lending framework that assisted women in applying for and receiving small business loans. We have also prepared budgeting curriculum for school-age children to teach them the importance of good financial habits. The purpose of that program was to educate and instill good financial habits early on in a way that was digestible and easy to understand for younger kids. We did this by using Toffees as a “valuable good,” as a replacement for money, and teaching them the value of banking and saving.
Goals
We hope to continue enhancing financial literacy by developing comprehensive educational programs on personal budgeting, banking, and health insurance. We aim to expand our outreach and build partnerships with local organizations in rural communities.
