Computer Literacy
Project RISHI’s Computer Literacy project division aims to bring quality education on computer systems, applications, and programming languages catered to all ages. In specific, we aim to work with underprivileged communities that lack access to this education and promote knowledge and job preparedness in the field of computer science and computer engineering. Previous Computer Literacy projects included a curriculum for elementary school children on basic computer knowledge, including courses on the Microsoft Office Suite and basic internet browsing skills. For older students, we created courses on programming languages such as python and focused on specific areas of development such as interview preparedness and career development. Future projects will aim to use e-commerce and online employment tools such as LinkedIn and Orkut in our curriculum so that we can help job seekers to market themselves to employers. We are currently aiming to spread our curriculum to more disadvantaged communities so that we can spread the accessibility of basic computer knowledge and skills across rural communities in India. We are also working to branch out to different NGOs and other organizations in India to assist them with their respective projects by providing technical support as well as manpower.
